The Supa-Stars of PAUL, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost Come to Melbourne Supanova!

PAUL opens Australia wide on April 14th!

Fans of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Spaced, are in for a treat with the upcoming release of PAUL, the new comedy starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost! The story of two Sci-Fi loving fan-boys whose cross country trek lands them with a different kind of Hitch-hiker; the Area 51 escapee alien PAUL (voiced by Seth Rogen).

In conjunction with Universal Pictures and Filmink we are bringing you this opportunity to meet two of the biggest stars in genre entertainment today. Simon and Nick will be doing a SINGLE Q&A session at 11 am on the Saturday of the Melbourne Supanova, which will then be followed by a free signing session.

Brisbane fans have not been left out though, we're running a competition on The Supanova website to win free tickets to an exclusive screening of PAUL in Brisbane! Keep an eye out on the Supanova Twitter and Facebook for more information!

Universal Pictures is calling all Simon Pegg and Nick Frost fans to head to the red carpet on Thursday 7th April, 6pm at Hoyts Melbourne Central. Host Tim Ferguson will be on the red carpet in search of Simon and Nick's biggest fans!

If you can prove to Tim that you're an ultimate fan by answering a handful of Pegg/Frost trivia questions , you could score instant tickets for you and a buddy to walk straight into the Premiere…oh and did we mention Simon and Nick will be there in-person to introduce the film!

Directors day is back in 2011!

Directors DayNot only is Friday April 1 the first day of the first Supanova for 2011, it's also our second annual Directors' Day in Brisbane! The afternoon will feature panels, screenings, sneak previews and a masterclass with some of Australia's leading creators for the screen. D-Day commences at 1pm with a dedicated hour of sneak-preview shopping on the Supanova trading floor, with 2pm – 5pm chock full of appearances by screen industry professionals.

To whet your appetite, we are delighted to announce JOSEPH SIMS the writer/ director of upcoming comedy/crime/thriller BAD BEHAVIOUR, along with the star JOHN JARRAT (Australia's favourite psycho killer). Come along for the world premiere of the theatrical trailer!

There will also be a premiere of LINE DISCONNECT, a new film from Joseph Wong featuring Supanova special guest YUKO MIYAMURA (Neon Genesis Evangelion).

Aussie producer CHRIS BROWN will join us to talk about his upcoming action/thriller BAIT, while MIKE McFARLAND, will also be speaking on the process of ADR directing for the new English dubs of Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone and 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance.

Robin Hobb in Sydney Signing!


North Sydney is proud to be hosting international best-selling author Robin Hobb for an exclusive Q&A session, as well as a chance for fans to meet Robin and have their books signed by the novelist on Wednesday 6 April.

As the author of fourteen novels in five different series, Robin Hobb is a mainstay in the fantasy genre and her books have been nominated for numerous Hugo and Nebula Awards. Robin is one of HarperCollins Voyagers most popular authors and fellow writer Orson Scott Card has remarked that "Robin Hobb [has] set the standard for the modern, serious fantasy novel".

Hailing from California and residing in Washington State, Robin will be travelling to Australia as a guest of the Supanova Pop Culture Exhibition; however this will be Robin's only public Sydney appearance.

The event will be held at the Dendy Cinemas in Newtown. Tickets to the event are $20 per person and must be purchased prior to the event. Copies of Robin Hobb's books will be available for purchase and signing on the evening.
