Actioned-packed June show-stoppers and a peek into our November expo!

Winter is coming... and it brings to Supanova not only a 'Game of Thrones' star, but some "marvellous" intergalactic guests, as well!

With our June tour just days away we are Supa-excited to announce even more awesome guests who are joining our incredible line-up:

Team Supanova is pleased as punch to play host to our second Lannister (after Lena Headey in November). For fans who love to “collect the whole set”, we also present Jamie 'Apollo' Bamber, Supanova's TWELTH BSG guest, and Olivia Olson who joins the already announced Flame Princess, Jessica DiCicco (our fifth and sixth stars from the madcap cartoon Adventure Time respectively).

Nikolaj, Jamie, Olivia and Ming-Na look forward to meeting their fans in Sydney and Perth. They'll be available to sign autographs, pose for studio portraits, and will take part in Q&A sessions.

Sadly we have also had some cancellations for this tour including Tod Haberkorn, Jeremy Shada and Morena Baccarin, who have all assured us that they do want to return in the future.

To soften the blow however we are pleased to offer an awesome exclusive The Amazing Spider-Man 2nd print promo cover exclusively for Supanova to celebrate Stan Lee's visit, thanks to Stan Lee Collectables!

Screen Stars keep their promises as Supanova confirms November guests

They couldn't make it last time, but they made a commitment to Supanova's fans that they'd be back: circumstances beyond their control meant that Janina Gavankar (True Blood, Arrow), Neve McIntosh (Dr Who), Eoin Macken (Merlin) and Alexander Vlahos (Merlin) were unable to appear at 2013's Supanova expos in Brisbane and Adelaide. The stars asked fans to consider their missed booking as a postponement rather than a cancellation, and - true to their word - they're all appearing at this year's November's expos instead!

These reconfirmed Supa-Stars are the first to be announced in what will soon be a huge array of pop-culture luminaries. Joining them will be:

  • David “The Hoff” Hasselhoff: star of Knight Rider and Baywatch, returns to Australia for his third Supanova tour.
  • Oliver and James Phelps: notorious duo best known as the mischievous twins 'George and Fred Weasley' from the Harry Potter films.
  • Kristin Bauer van Straten: True Blood fans will be dying to meet Fangtasia's nightclub impresario, 'Pam', the vampire femme-fatale.
  • Summer Glau: A perennial Supanova favourite. Star of Joss Whedon's shows Firefly & Dollhouse; and more recently Arrow.
  • James Kyson: Heroes, Hawaii Five-O, and recently a guest-star in the western drama, Justified.

Additional guest announcements will be made in the lead-up to Supa-November, marking an exciting conclusion to a spectacular year for Australia's favourite pop culture expo.

Official Doctor Who Monsters 1/2oz Pure Silver Coins

Doctor Who is currently the longest running and most successful science fiction television series of all time. Produced in Great Britain by the BBC, the programme depicts the adventures of a time travelling, humanoid alien known as the Doctor.

In his travels through time, the Doctor regularly encounters a number of monsters and aliens that he must conquer and defeat – the quantum-locked alien killers the Weeping Angels, the emotionally inhibited Cybermen, the advanced race of reptilian humanoids known as the Silurians, the aggressive clone-warrior race from Sontar, the Sontarans and perhaps the Doctor's most famous foes, the merciless Daleks.

Collectors can enjoy 1/2oz pure silver coin designs of these villains in the new Doctor Who Monsters series.

These and other exciting coin releases celebrating science fiction and pop culture can be found on The Perth Mint website or at The Perth Mint's Supanova stand (Perth show only).

Four simultaneous plane crashes. Three child survivors. A religious fanatic who insists the three are harbingers of the apocalypse. What if he's right?

Well as of NOW, you can finally find out and get your hands on the thriller everybody is talking about – THE THREE by Sarah Lotz – so why don't you "do just that"

Oh and also, HELLO NEW TRILOGY! We are also LOVING awesome Aussie Trudi Canavan and her kick-ass THIEF's MAGIC as a start to her new Millennium's Rule trilogy. This is Trudi at her finest – with intelligent world building and complex storytelling, it's an epic adventure/fantasy novel set against the backdrop of an industrial revolution powered by magic, the quest for knowledge and the wrath of the Angels. "Here you go" - you're welcome.

Both these great books are published by Hachette Australia. "Sign up for Hachette's newsletter" or follow them on their social channels to hear about other awesome titles and giveaways.

Hachette Australia will also have a booth at Sydney Supanova this year for the first time ever! Don't forget to book a ticket and plan a visit – they're stocking a few (thousand) books to buy and win – new, old and exclusive. Yay!

Sanguine stars of vampire mockumentary 'What We Do In The Shadows' to attack Supanova!

SYDNEY EXCLUSIVE: Supanova welcomes Taika Waititi and Jonny Brugh, stars of the hilarious vampire comedy, 'What We Do In The Shadows'. The pair will appear at an exclusive Sydney-only Q&A panel followed by a signing session.

The mockumentary follows flatmates Viago, Deacon and Vladislav, three vampires who are just trying to get by in modern society; from paying rent and battling the housework roster to trying to get invited into nightclubs, they're just like anyone else - except they're immortal and must feast on human blood.

When their 8,000 year-old flatmate Petyr turns a young Kiwi hipster, Nick, into a vampire, the guys must show him the ropes and guide him through his newfound eternal life. In return, they're forced to learn a thing or two about modern society, fashions, technology, and the Internet. But it's the introduction of Nick's mortal human friend, Stu, that really changes the vampires' lives and attitudes towards the ever-changing world around them.

When Stu's life is threatened, the vamps show us that maybe humans are worth fighting for, and that even though your heart may be cold and dead, it doesn't mean you can't feel anything.

The film, written and co-directed by Jemaine Clement ('Flight of The Conchords') and Taika Waititi ('Boy') is set for release in September 2014, and has already received rave reviews following screenings at the Sundance, SXSW and Berlinale film festivals.

Knowledge is Power. Reading is a Superpower!

There's nothing like the delicious anticipation of opening up the very latest comic (or book) and embarking on the journey of an exciting new tale. Imagine if you didn't have the ability to read, and were excluded from all those amazing stories! Not only would you miss out on the fun, but reading is a core skill that everyone needs to succeed in life. 7.3 million Australians - almost half the adult population - have problems with literacy, and are disadvantaged as a result.

Comics For Cause is a collective of Australian pop-culture industry professionals gathering pre-loved comic books, graphic novels and trade paperbacks so they can be redistributed to Adult and Teen literacy schemes via the NSW Adult Literacy and Numeracy Council.

But they need your help! You can donate your comics and graphic novels and become a 'comic book hero' by empowering others to read. Donate your materials at the Info Booth at Sydney Supanova (or after the expo, at Kings Comics in Sydney). The team has plans to expand into other states later this year. For more information visit www.comicsforcause.org

Why donate?

Because comics can:

  • Help motivate reluctant readers
  • Provide a link to the recreational reading experience for teen students
  • Provide a stepping stone to other types of reading
  • Develop the comprehension and language skills of second-language learners
  • Present language in action, using visual contextual cues, direct speech and slang
